
Let’s Talk About the 1500W Halogen NIR Heater
We built these 1500W lamps for one reason: raw, high-intensity heat. Inside, there’s a tungsten filament tucked into a quartz tube and filled with a specific halogen gas mix. This isn’t just for show. The chemistry keeps the filament from evaporating too fast, which means we can crank up the temperature without the wire just giving up and snapping. Getting the power right Here’s the thing about the electrical side. At 1500W, you’re dealing with a lot of concentrated energy. You’ve got to be spot-on with your voltage. If you over-volt it? Snap. The filament is gone instantly. Under-volt it, and your heat output tanks, which means your cycle times start dragging. To make your life easier, we use standard industrial connectors like R7s or SK15. You can just plug them in and go—no need to spend your afternoon fabricating custom brackets. The magic of quartz The quartz glass does the heavy lifting here. It lets that shortwave infrared pass right through without soaking up the heat. Some of our tubes even have a special coating. It basically bounces the heat forward, pushing the energy onto your workpiece instead of letting it bake your machine frame. It’s a huge help if you’re trying to keep your cooling fans from working overtime. Putting it to work You’ll usually see these in the thick of it—blowing PET bottles, curing powder coatings, or welding plastics. The best part is how fast they ramp up. You don’t have to leave an oven idling for an hour just to get it up to temp. But a word of caution. Packing 1500W into a small tube creates a serious heat zone. If your conveyor is moving too slow or your spacing is a bit off, you’re going to scorch your material. Just make sure your PID controllers and sensors are up to the task of handling those quick thermal spikes.
