If you need heat—and you need it now—standard heating elements usually won’t cut it. That’s why we build our halogen lamps the way we do. We use a tungsten filament tucked inside a quartz tube and fill the whole thing with halogen gas. It sounds technical, but here’s what it actually does: it lets the filament get incredibly hot without just evaporating away. You get a massive blast of shortwave infrared (SWIR) radiation, and the lamps actually last longer because of it. Talking Power and Voltage When you’re picking a lamp for your oven, it really comes down to how much heat you need to move and how fast. High-wattage tubes are the way to go if you’re curing or drying and can’t afford to wait around for things to warm up. We can tweak the lengths and voltage to fit whatever power supply you’ve already got sitting on your floor. Just a heads-up: if you go for a high-voltage, high-wattage setup, double-check your wiring. You don’t want your control system sweating under the current draw. The Hardware Side of Things We use quartz for the outer shell because it can take the heat and lets the infrared light pass right through. To make your life easier, we stick to standard connectors like R7s or SK15. That means you can just swap them into most oven arrays without a headache. Some of our lamps have a special coating to handle chemical fumes or to shift the heat spectrum. But here is a pro tip:**do not touch the glass with your bare hands.**The oils from your skin create tiny hot spots, and that’s a one-way ticket to a burnt-out lamp. Putting Them to Work These things are built for speed. They hit temperature almost instantly and cool down just as fast. That gives you a level of control over your thermal profile that’s hard to beat, especially if you’re running PET blowing or powder coating lines. It’s a huge relief not having to wait for a massive oven to “soak.” Just be careful with your spacing. This heat is intense. If the lamp is too close to a thin piece of material, it’ll warp before you even realize it. Get that distance dialed in, and you’re golden.
