Inside each one, there’s a tungsten filament tucked into a quartz envelope. We fill that space with a specific halogen gas mix. Why? Because it stops the filament from evaporating. It lets the lamp run way hotter and last a lot longer than those old-school incandescent tubes you might be used to. The heat is intense. At 1500W, you’re getting short-wave infrared radiation. Unlike long-wave heat, this stuff digs deep into your materials and gets them up to temperature almost instantly. It’s a great swap for most industrial heaters. Just a heads-up: check your power supply first. These draw a lot of current. If your voltage is jumping around, you’re probably going to fry the filament way sooner than you should. Built to take a beating We use heavy-wall quartz because these lamps go from cold to scorching in a heartbeat. That kind of thermal shock would shatter cheaper glass. To make your life easier, we ship them with standard R7s or SK15 connectors. No need to overthink the wiring. You’ll also see some versions with a gold or aluminum coating. It’s a simple trick that bounces the IR energy forward. Instead of heating up your machine’s frame, the heat actually hits your workpiece. Making it work in the real world You’ll mostly see these in PET bottle blowing or automotive paint lines. They’re perfect for high-speed conveyors because they’re “instant-on.” No waiting around. But here’s the thing: 1500W puts off a massive amount of ambient heat. If your housing doesn’t have a good fan or plenty of breathing room, you’re going to melt your wiring and kill your sensors. One last tip? Give your reflectors a look every few months. If they get knocked out of alignment, you’ll end up with hot spots and cold spots, and that’s a headache nobody wants.
