
Getting Your Ink to Cure Right: A Look at Our Halogen Lamps
If you’ve spent any time on a screen printing line, you know the struggle. You need the ink to set fast, but you can’t just blast it with heat and hope for the best. That’s where our halogen bulbs come in. We build these specifically for curing lines. Inside the quartz glass, there’s a tungsten filament and some halogen gas. The gas does a clever little trick—it recycles itself—which means we can crank up the heat to crazy levels without the bulb just giving up and burning out on you. The heat hit Here’s the thing about curing: you want a fast ramp-up. You need that heat to hit the ink and lock it in before it has a chance to mess with the material underneath. We design these lamps with a high wattage-to-length ratio. Why? Because it gives you a concentrated punch of heat. By tweaking the voltage, we make sure the infrared waves stay “short.” This means the heat hits the surface ink immediately. It doesn’t soak deep into the substrate, which is a lifesaver if you’re working with thin plastics that love to warp the second they get too warm. Easy swaps and focused heat Nobody wants to spend their afternoon messing with custom adapters. That’s why we stick to standard connectors like R7s or Sk15. You just pop them in and you’re back in business. The quartz glass isn’t just for show, either. It handles the heat and lets the IR radiation pass right through. And if you need the heat to go in a specific direction, some of our lamps come with a special coating. It basically bounces the energy back or narrows the beam so the heat lands exactly where the ink is. A quick word of caution These lamps are powerful. Really powerful. That speed is great for your production numbers, but it comes with a catch. Because they put out so much energy, your oven’s ventilation has to be on point. If you try to run these in a sealed box without any airflow, your socket housings are going to fry. Before you fire them up, just double-check your thermal fuses and make sure your wiring can handle the current. It’s a small check that saves you from a big headache later.
